I've listened to Joe Frank's radio shows for years. The mix of comic, tragic, and absurd storytelling and looped musical fragments ranging from avant-garde orchestral works to The Cinematic Orchestra made each show both hypnotic and affecting. These musical fragments created a sonic stage upon which Joe's stories and found recordings thrived, and for many listeners it was likely a mystery what artists and songs those loops were from. Tonight's edition features my favorite tunes from Joe Frank's radio shows, revealed in their entirety. My small tribute for a radio giant.
