With all the violence happening against the older Asian community, I want to dedicate this mix to music that brings us together.
Hip hop can definitely be a beautiful representation of that.
Antiblackness is a pervasive problem in the Asian community. We need to take this opportunity to acknowledge those failings and use them as an opportunity to build bridges with the Black community. The only way we will be able to solve the root issue of the violence is to build that bridge. We have our own history with police and should understand that the power we give to them will eventually be used against us. We need to work together to defeat the root cause which is, unsurprisingly, white supremacy.
