My house tried to kill me last week. I had to see a doctor & get a tetanus shot. I survived. I couldn't stop thinking about a song by The Faint. Take Me To The Hospital became the seed of this show. Everything But The Girl & Oakland's Mall Walk provided the rest of the soundtrack to that incident.
While 2016 has been a dumpster fire of a year, there have been some incredible hip-hop albums. A Tribe Called Quest, Danny Brown, and NxWorries / Anderson .Paak are all reasons to believe. Electronic albums from Trentemøller, Junior Boys, and TV Girl aren't half bad. Vanishing Twin remind me of Stereolab, and that's a good thing.
Rock-wise, Sad13, PinkShinyUltraBlast, and Sunflower Bean each bring other bands to mind, but none of them too quickly. That is to say, they all sound like themselves. Influences shine through on repeat listens. Also, I decided to revisit the Medical Records catalog, and pulled out Post-Industrial Noise, Alexander Robotnick, and Psychic Youth.
