Music offers a gray space between identities, a blank slate of sonic possibilities to merge sounds from across cultures, influences, and history.
For Ecuadorian music collective (not a band) Cruzloma, their new project was an opportunity to explore the complementary and conflicting spheres of their heritage and being “Internet kids.” Traditional music and electronic media collide in mesmerizing patterns on their debut EP, Mitos & Ritos, as the duo explore religion, spirituality, tradition, and their constant evolution with modern life.
Listen to Mitos & Ritos and a conversation with Cruzloma on-demand on WTFIFL with DJ ShortyRock! Get a behind-the-scenes look at the formation of the collective, the cultural influences that shaped the EP, and what’s next for their distinct sound.
