Say it louder for the people in the back: GIRL CULTURE IS SACRED.

When the chips are down and the stakes are high, no one shows up like the girls, the gals, the femmes, the enbies, the allies, the crew. On Valentine’s Day, 1001 Stevies x Pretty Beat are turning the volume UP for the girls at El Rio to raise funds for abortion access and amplify the fight for reproductive justice, using music to create a space for collective action, healing, and catharsis. Funds from the show will support the Louisiana Abortion Fund, a New Orleans-based nonprofit providing low-barrier access and assistance for reproductive health care throughout the Southern US.

Featuring Bay Area bands Ouch!, Baycoin Beats, and Tracey Holland’s supergroup Free Bleed, the GIRL CULTURE IS SACRED benefit will play the music of our alt teenage crushes: alt, punk, riot grrrl, R&B, and soul. It’ll be everything we need in these scary times, soul-affirming, top-of-our-lungs screaming, dancing-our-hearts-out action that makes an impact. PLUS a silent auction and special merch! Find more info and get your tickets here. $25 NOTAFLOF.

Bay Area locals and event organizers Tracey Holland, Zoe Young (also of Furious Tits/Free Bleed), and Oona Garthwaite joined DJ ShortyRock on WTFIFL last weekend to chat about the benefit and share some tunes from the amazing lineup of artists. Listen now and show out for the girls on Valentine’s Day!

Pro tip: El Rio is walking distance from Lovers Lane, the Mission’s only love-themed Valentine’s Day event meant to inspire hope, bring unity, and love for the community. Celebrate all day with back-to-back events dedicated to hope, love, and togetherness.
