There's something quietly radical about an instrumental album that manages to say everything without a single word. Sawyer G.'s It'll Be Gone For A Little While II, the long-awaited follow-up to the 2023 original, is exactly that kind of record.

Released February 20th, 2026 via Anxiety Blanket Records, this twelve-track odyssey is a stunning evolution of the Oakland-based multimedia artist's sonic vision, and honestly, it deserves to be experienced more than described.

What strikes you first is the atmosphere. Sawyer G., also known as Catch Prichard and formerly the mind behind the Stockholm/Berlin art-folk project Brittsommar, has always had a gift for dark, cinematic soundscapes. But on this record, something has shifted. The textures feel more expansive, more patient.

Piano lines drift in and out like memory. Beautiful guitarlicks surface and dissolve. Remote cello tracks add warmth and ache to moments that couldhave felt cold. If you know DJ Shadow's immersive, beat-built worlds, you'll find a kindred spirit here, though Sawyer G. is carving out his own lane entirely.

The album's two most recent singles are perfect entry points."I'll Feel Better When the Dog Days End" wraps you in something bittersweet and stirring from the first note, equal parts restless and resigned.

"A Speck Of Water On The Dead Eye Of Earth" is more unsettling, a reminder that Sawyer G. isn't afraid to go to strange, uncomfortable places in service of the music. Together, they map the emotional extremes of an album that rewards repeated listening, especially on quality headphones or a solid sound system. If you're in the Bay Area, honestly, this feels like a record built for somewhere like Envelop, the SF nonprofit's stunning 32-speaker immersive listening space over at The Midway in the Dogpatch. This is music made for the kind of listening you do with your eyes closed.

Part of what makes It'll Be Gone For A Little While II so compelling is how it sits at the intersection of experimental and deeply personal. Sawyer G. has spoken about the album on Hangover Sessions (episode 336, broadcast January 18, 2026), and his reflections illuminate just how much of himself lives in these tracks. There's a NTS Live sensibility to the whole thing, a trust that the listener will meet the music halfway, that space and silence are as expressive as any note. For a pioneering SF Bay Area artist who moved from a small Midwest town to Europe and back again, that kind of rootedness in sound makes all the sense in the world.

It'll Be Gone For A Little While II is available now as a digital download and on cassette tape through Anxiety Blanket Records, the artist-run independent label out of Los Angeles that’s been championing exactly this kind of creative, boundary-pushing work since 2018. Give them a follow, they're putting out the good stuff!
