With 100 shows and 115+ DJs, BFF.fm plays just about every genre/subgenre imaginable. No matter what you’re into, there’s a friend/neighbor/music nerd curating playlists filled with classic jams, new finds, and local gems.

Today’s tour takes us back to the good ol’days of radio, when DJs were the friendly voices chatting with you as you sipped your morning coffee, commuted to work, slogged through the mid-afternoon slump, or unwound in the evening. They were your neighbors who just happened to have the latest and greatest in news, pop culture, and life in the Bay Area.

BFF.fm is keeping those golden days alive with our talk shows with fresh episodes every week!

Roll Over Easy w/ The Early Bird & Sequoia (Thursdays, 7:30-9:30am) - “Goooooooooood morning, San Francisco!” Sequoia greets us every Thursday morning here on BFF.fm. Soon, the affable morning duo will be audibly pouring coffee and asking you to join in for the first slurping sip. Self-described as “an optimistic look at San Francisco that showcases the people and places that give the City its character,” Roll Over Easy is the antidote to any doom loop narrative, typically featuring a guest (or two! or three!) who is making a positive difference in the community. Plus, The Early Bird and Sequoia are often on the move, bringing community radio literally out into the community. Their traveling set-up makes for some hilarious pop-ins from people walking by their set-up or occasional descriptions of coffee pouring gone wrong as they broadcast from the bus. Every Thursday that you start with Roll Over Easy is a better Thursday.

Recommended episodes:The latest one! Honestly, I think it’s best to just jump right in and give the latest a listen, since the duo will often cover timely news or have guests promoting upcoming events and the FOMO truly hurts listening to old eps sometimes.

Storied: San Francisco w/ Jeff Hunt (every other Thursday, 9:30-10am) - Some places and cultural institutions in SF are so iconic that you can sometimes forget that people made these things. Storied: San Francisco does not forget. One of the things I love most about this podcast – voted Best Podcast of 2025, according to 48Hills readers, by the way – is that Jeff delves deeply into his guests’ personal stories.

You learn about their childhoods, their journeys to the city, what drove them to want to make what they did. It’s inspiring and, most of all, human; an excellent reminder that there’s a person and a dream and a story behind all that we enjoy about where we live. The current season’s theme is “Every Kinda People” “because that's what it takes to "make the world go 'round." Listen to the intro the season here to learn a bit more!

Recommended episodes: I highly recommend browsing the episodes to find a familiar name or spot - it’s fun to learn more about something you know and love! Here are a few of my very subjective personal faves from the past few years:

P.S. the BFF.fm aired version of the show is a 30-minute clip of much longer stories. You can whet your palate at BFF.fm then listen to the full episodes on Storied: SF’s website!

TV on the Radio w/ Leah & Jessica (Sundays 10-11am) - Did you just finish watching a show that maybe none of your friends watched and you’re freakin’ dying to hash it out with a bestie? You’ve come to the right talk show. Leah and Jessica watch TV shows of all kinds, low- to high-brow, and jump on the mic for a loose, casual, unfiltered conversation about what the heck that was all about.

In their words: “Sure, we love Game of Thrones and Mad Men as much as the next girls, but everybody is talking about those shows. We're your source for everything you didn't think you wanted to know about hair conspiracies on Gossip Girl, what Mindy Kaling and Lindsay Lohan have in common, and whether or not your doctor should ever wear formal shorts to the office.” Put it on during your Sunday mornings and you’ll feel like you just invited two really great friends over to gab.
