Want to get closer to the music community? Volunteer at BFF.fm!
Become a BFF.fm volunteer and you’ll work alongside other music lovers like you, helping us sound ah-mazing on air, supporting fundraising efforts, connecting us with new listeners and local artists, and helping with day-to-day operations of the station. No radio experience is necessary!
We're currently seeking volunteers for the following roles:
Volunteer Fundraising Committee Chair:Lead a team of volunteers supporting BFF.fm's fundraising efforts. Commitment: 5 hours per month, plus occasional campaign and event support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruit, organize, and motivate volunteers and lead regular committee meetings
- Collaborate with station leadership to support the planning and execution of fundraising campaigns and events
- Help identify new donor, sponsor, and community partnership opportunities
- Leadership and volunteer management experience
- Communication and relationship-building abilities
- Project management and organizational skills
- Fundraising, sales, marketing, or nonprofit experience preferred
- Enthusiasm for community media, local music, and BFF.fm's mission
Volunteer Music Curator: Locals ONLY (part of our Programming Committee): Help BFF.fm showcase the incredible music being made in the Bay Area. Commitment: 2-4 hours per week
Key Responsibilities
- Stay informed about the Bay Area music scene, including emerging artists and releases
- Review music submissions and identify tracks for inclusion
- Upload music and metadata into the station's music library
- Maintain accurate artist information and tagging
- Collaborate with the Programming Committee to ensure diverse representation across genres and communities
Desired Skills
- Passion for discovering and supporting local music
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Comfort working with spreadsheets
- Ability to work independently
- Familiarity with the Bay Area music community a plus
Audio Production Volunteer (part of our Programming Committee): Help BFF.fm sound polished and professional while highlighting the station's creativity and personality. Committment: 2-5 hours per week depending on project.
Key Responsibilities
- Edit and produce station IDs, promos, PSAs, and other station imaging assets
- Add music, sound effects, and other production elements as needed
- Organize and maintain audio files on shared drive
- Collaborate with station leadership and volunteers to develop new short form content
Desired Skills
- Experience with audio editing software such as Audacity, Adobe Audition, Pro Tools, or similar
- Understanding of audio levels, compression, EQ, and broadcast production basics
- Strong attention to detail and file organization
- Ability to manage projects independently
- Audio storytelling skills a plus
Join our Marketing Committee to help us with these specific tasks:
Ticket Giveaway Coordinator: Got a knack for organizing and a love for live music? Coordinate with venues and local promoters to give away tickets on BFF.fm! You’ll make posts on our blog and social media about the opportunities, manage winner lists, and coordinate contacting winners and venues.
Street Team Coordinator: Help us find the perfect place to pop up a BFF.fm table and meet new listeners! Then, corral a volunteer crew from our networks of DJs and volunteers, set the schedule, and coordinate any materials pick-up or promo kit replenishing in collaboration with the Merch Manager.
