Every other Sunday from 6 am - 8 am, Hangover Sessions has kept the BFF.fm community supplied with artist interviews, local tunes, and special performances from DJ Webbles' own barn-studio in Oakland. After 349 episodes and 13 years on radio stations across the Bay Area, the beloved program is departing the webwaves.
In celebration of the final episode of Hangover Sessions this Sunday, we chatted with DJ Webbles about his journey to BFF.fm, advice for new DJs, and his advice to plugging into the Bay Area music scene.
How did you join BFF.fm?
After working at KXSF and Lost Church Free Radio (during the pandemic) - BFF.fm was always top of mind for me in terms of the station that I wanted to work for in SF!
What originally inspired Hangover Sessions?
Desert Island Discs (BBC Radio 4), My Love of radio all my life, my english accent and my fondness for live music shows and being a local artist myself.
If you could go back in time and say one thing to yourself before your first episode, what would it be?
Don’t script it, let it flow organically :)
Any advice for new DJs or folks looking to get more involved in the Bay Area music community?
Network, play open mic nights, find a niche for your show; to set you apart from fellow DJs, got to local shows/events and support the local community we have here in the Bay Area.
Favorite local artists?
Oh man you’re killing me 😀
