Thanks for your interest in volunteering at BFF.fm! Here is a list of our current open projects. If you see a project that especially interests you, be sure to let us know. But, you don't have to have a specific project in mind up front in order to be a great volunteer. We'll work with you to find the spot where you'll really shine.

DEVELOPMENT & FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE
Strategic Initiative: Grow BFF.fm’s fundraising capacity in order to provide long term sustainability
Skills: fundraising, grant and RFP writing, donor stewardship, securing sponsorships
Projects:
- Help us find key sponsorships: we have a few programs that could really flourish with the right sponsorship...maybe you can be the connector we need!
- Assist with writing grants: our grant seeking and writing team could use a few more hands on deck!
- And, of course, we can always use help sending out fundraising premiums: mailing stuff is an easy to help!
MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE
Strategic Initiative: Increase the presence, awareness, and impact of BFF.fm through growing live listenership and website visits
Skills: social media, email marketing, PPC marketing, partnerships, blogging, content strategy, events
Projects:
- Help us spread the word about BFF.fm: From time to time we do really cool stuff that's pretty newsworthy! We could use your public relations skills and your help with local outreach efforts.
- Manage our Google Ads grant
EVENTS SUB-COMMITTEE
Projects:
- Assist with our Listening Parties: everything from taking tickets at the door to running the audio
- Book local music showcases: put together shows that highlight our amazing local music scene
- Book DJ nights: help wrangle our DJs and get them out in the world in local bars and events
CONTENT SUB-COMMITTEE
Projects:
- Write for the BFF.fm blog: we are looking for writers to create blog posts about the Bay Area music scene and what's happening on-air at BFF.fm at least once a month for our blog.
- Be a social media star: help us spread the word about all of the amazing music in the Bay, plus tell the story of the impact BFF.fm has on the community through posts on Instagram and TikTok
OPERATIONS & TECH COMMITTEE
Strategic Initiative: To evolve the organizational structure of BFF.fm into a more collaborative model in which each DJ helps to advance our mission, while creating opportunities for the public to get more closely involved
Skills: audio/visual, equipment maintenance, basic computer skills,web development, analytics, research and assessment
Projects:
- Be a studio engineer: help with the day-to-day management of the physical studios one day per week.
- Help us wrangle analytics: knowing who's listening and when is vital feedback that helps us hone our ability to live up to our mission.
- Use your technical skills to support our DJs: everything from troubleshooting to maintaining the technical systems that keep BFF.fm running smooth
PROGRAMMING COMMITTEE
Strategic Initiative: Further our mission of being a champion of the San Francisco music scene through our radio shows and programming activities
Skills: DJ training, diversity and inclusion, radio production, scheduling
Projects:
- Select and schedule new DJs from application pool, ensuring diverse lineup of DJs and shows
- foster volunteer committee of DJ trainers, keeping them up to date on all station rules and regulations
- ensure that all policies and processes are covered within a series of 3 hands on new DJ training sessions
MUSIC SUB-COMMITTEE
Projects:
- Help us find more awesome local musicby reaching out to bands and spreading the word about BFF.fm
- Chat with music labels: make sure BFF.fm is getting sent music that our DJs are sure to support
- Compile charts: if you're a data nerd, compiling charts is a great way to communicate interesting trends about BFF.fm, the bands we play, and our role in the music scene
