Ep 146: "I'm a Tell You Today/ I'm a Tell You Tomorrow"

Quinn DeVeaux's album Book of Soul (bandcamp) cracks with R&B frisson, with DeVeaux's powerful vocal address surrounded by Stax guitar, thicks currents of backing vocal, and percussion aplenty. The opening lines of "All I Need"-- "I'm a tell you today/ I'm a tell you tomorrow/ whether we feeling joy/ or we feeling sorrow"-- carry a distinct resonance on this election eve, but they had even more six months ago when I first heard them, as day by day people took to the streets to protest the murders of black people at the hands of ruthless police.  It's a straightforward love song, addressed to one or many.
