Sundance Rewind - Director Sam Soko, Boniface Mwangi, & Njeri Mwangi of the Documentary Softie

We're taking you back to Sundance 2020 where we got to talk about the documentary Softie with the film's director, Sam Soko, and subjects Boniface Mwangi, and his wife Njeri Mwangi. Along with being a very powerful film about an underdog activist running for political office, it's also the first film from Kenya to ever premiere at Sundance! We get into the corruption and misinformation in Kenyan politics, Boni's journey from photojournalist to political candidate, and how they all risked their lives in being part of his story. The sacrifice it takes to put your life's purpose ahead of your own self interests has tough consequences for a family, but it is something that we, as constituents, hope for in a political leader. We can all use more people like Softie leading our country, and we wish him all the best in future endeavors.
