"make me feel as thou hast felt"

We pick up from last week on the theme of sacred music: its ancient origins, famous settings from the European Enlightenment and beyond, and, of course, contemporary reinterpretations. This episode, we will be exploring one of the most enduring themes, and also possibly the saddest, in classical music. Hundreds upon hundreds of versions are out there, written over the past nine centuries. Yes, it's Stabat Mater.
