First Firsts

This week's guest Ariel Waldman brings a selection of music that's all about firsts. The soundtrack to big milestones in life, the introduction to genres, formative experiences and soaring highlights. Meanwhile, the album of the week celebrates Bloc Party's debut, Silent Alarm, which turned 10 years old last year and which the band will be playing in full around the US starting this month.

As a bonus, after the show friend-of-the-show Gabe Neisis sent me this, which is sublime and really puts a cap on a retrospective of an album that with time turned out to be even better than I first thought.
