EP027: We Enter This World Screaming

People who shall not be named at times make the argument that experimental music is inherently boring. While this may seem like a sweeping statement, there might be some validity to it. By definition, this type of music is challenging. However, sometimes these experiments can feel disjointed as they prioritize exploration over accessibility. This can lead to confusing musical structures and unfocused melodies which ultimately result in an uneasy listening experience for many listeners. The hits these ain’t. Furthermore, while experimentation is important for the evolution of art forms, it also requires patience from listeners who may not be interested in waiting for long periods of time before experiencing any sort of resolution or payoff. Therefore, while experimental music has its place within the larger musical landscape as an exploratory platform for artists to stretch their creativity beyond established boundaries, it's understandable why some people might find it boring or difficult to engage with at times due to its abstract nature. So, go listen to the pounding of sand.
